Louisiana Cuisine as a result of the Columbian Exchange

Students in Mrs. Pryor’s 12th grade World History class explored how their favorite Louisiana dishes are a result of the Colombian Exchange. They investigated the cultural origins of famous dishes such as gumbo and crawfish étouffée and mapped where on the globe the ingredients came from. After investigating eight Louisiana cuisines, they got to enjoy some king cake that was kindly donated by Oak Point in Central.

Big thanks to Mr. Jonathan Sumich from Oak Point for supporting our Wildcats learning!
