Is my child too ill to attend school? Parents are often confronted with the decision if they should send their child to school when they complain of not feeling well. Here are some guidelines that may be helpful in making that decision. It does not cover every decision, and does not take the place of seeking medical attention. Please consult your doctor for specific medical advice.

Please note that due to the COVID 19 Pandemic these guidelines have been updated to reflect current CDC Guidelines and best practice. The school nursing staff is here to assist parents navigate school attendance during this time, while keeping our environment as safe as possible for all students who attend CCSS Schools. IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION OR NEED ADVISE ON IF YOUR CHILD SHOULD ATTEND SCHOOL PLEASE CONTACT YOUR CHILD'S SCHOOL NURSE – SHE WILL BE HAPPY TO ASSIST YOU !!

Stay Home if:
  • Fever 100.4 or greater
  • Cough
  • Any 2 of the following symptoms:
    • Temp Greater than 100.4
    • Chills
    • Muscle Pain
    • Headache
    • Sore Throat
    • New loss of taste or smell
When to return:
  • If tested positive for COVID-19 with symptoms - Per CDC guidelines
    • 3 days of no fever (Without medication)
    • Improved respriratory symptoms
    • 10 days since new symptoms have appeared
  • If tested positive with no symptoms student can return in 10 days
  • If tested negative for COVID-19 student must not have any of the following symptoms for 72 hours befor returning
    • Fever
    • Vomiting
    • Sore throat
