Free and Reduced Lunch Application

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Children need healthy meals to learn. This school year, Central Community School System can offer healthy meals every school day to all students at no cost. Typically, a student’s household must meet income eligibility requirements to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. However, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued guidance that allows schools to offer meals to all students at no cost for the 2021-2022 school year.

Although your children will eat free for SY 21-22, a Free and Reduced Price Meal Application is needed.  All parents are asked to complete this application.  This will NOT affect your children free meals.  So why do you need to complete this application if your children will be eating for free?  Well this information will be used to determine state and federal funding.  This funding helps us provide the following:

            -After-school tutoring programs and interventionists

            -Professional development for teachers

            -Enrichment opportunities for students

-Extracurricular activities for students in athletics, academics, and arts

            -Enhance technology

In addition, the Free and Reduced Price Meal Application eligibility status will also:

-qualify newly eligible children for SY 2021-2022 and summer 2022 P-EBT benefits

-Ensure free or reduced-price meals during the first 30 days of SY 2022-2023

The application opens 8/2/2021

With our deepest gratitude,

Dr. Jason M. Fountain
